Itchy soles of feet in the middle of the night

Often I will wake up in the middle of the night with the soles of my feet itching like crazy! There isn't any redness or swelling, nor is there flaking or scaling. Just itching. It's very annoying and sometimes it is the cause of me waking up. Any ideas?
