thick mucus, violent cough caused by tickle

Starts in September lasts thru March. Thick mucus deep in throat and chest, impossible to expectorate which causes tickle and then violent and prolonged coughing, mostly brought on by changing position, especially lying down which produces prounounced wheezing sounds (source of tickle and cough)....
