Hi, I was taking birth control pills for almost a week. I stopped taking them and decided to abstain from sexual intercourse (religious belief). I am now bleeding and my period is not due for another 2 1/2 weeks. Is this normal? I always use protection with my fiancee.

Birth control pills contain the same female sex hormones that our body produces in order to control ovulation and menstrual bleeding, among other things. So when you took the pills, yo added additional hormones to your body so you disrupted the hormonal balance that existed before that. And, since birth control pills have direct effect on uterine tissue that breaks apart and bleeds each menstrual cycle, the pills have caused it to overreact and bleed before time. So, this is normal side effect of stopping the birth control pills after just one week.
