So this is the first month of my birth control, and the first time I've ever taken it. The lady at the sexual health centre said that spotting can occur, so I looked passed that obviously. But now I'm on the week of my reminder pills, and my period is heavier than EVER. My friend was joking around and said I had a miscarriage... even though she was joking I was still rather skeptical, and scared. I don't think it'd be a miscarriage, I thought I would be in pain if I were. However, my tampons hardly last me an hour now, why am I bleeding so much? Help please!

This much bleeding definitely doesn't fall under the spotting which is expected on birth control pills. Its not a miscarriage - that much you figured out yourself, but the bleeding is happening because hormones from the pill have direct effect not only on your ovulation, but they also change the tissue inside your uterus which normally breaks apart and causes bleeding during your period. So, you need to either phone them or go visit them again, because maybe this type of pill is not the right one for you - it definitely should not cause this much bleeding.
