I dont take it fo rseizures and have had my adventures with med withdrawal especially Effexor - but all I have to do is skip ONE dose and I am a jittery mess. when I get caught up I have unusually good mood. I take Zoloft as well. Since I got toxic on subtherapeutic Lithium, cant complain.

I was prescribed lamitical for mild bipolar II. I've taken 50 mg for 12 days. I'm too afraid of ramping up based on how I feel and what I've read. I'd like to stop. Will I have withdrawal after on 12 day of taking it?

Before taking advice online you should consult your doctor. That said, IMO at that dose you could come down by 25mg, stay at 25mg for 4 days, then come off that last 25mg. Just remember, if you want to go back up, lamictal doses should only be increased 25mg/week, and if you've gone down, it should only be increased based on that. If you stop taking it completely for over 3 days, then you're supposed to start at 25 mg again, and start the whole process again. Lamictal was, for me, a last resort drug. I prefer it to anti-psychotics, like Seroquel (bad news drug) which I believe should only be used short term for most people with bipolar.I do not actually have much faith in psychiatrists, but they can definitely be a help in the short run. For the long term I recommend exploring every avenue of support possible, including psychologists and other therapists (hopefully people who are critical of the rigid psychiatric model and who are able to help you strengthen yourself up emotionally and mentally). Explore everything from therapy to nutrition and fitness alternatives. You probably won't find the right fit immediately, but keep on trying, don't get discouraged, and you will eventually find people, and a plan, that will help you move forward. The problem with psychiatry is that most pdocs refuse to look at you as a complex individual and help you examine yourself and your environment in ways that might truly help you become a better, more healthy you. Keep in mind, the drugs they give can be dangerous if not used properly, so always consult them if you plan on making abrupt chnages, as these can have serious effects, including mimmicking the effects that they are supposed to help (ie mania, insomnia). I know I answered more than you asked for, but whatevs... hope it helps. Peace.

My daughter had a horrible mysterious rash when she started this drug. And never stop a drug like this cold turkey without medical supervision. You can go into seizures according to the web

NO, Lamital is a drug that is for bipolar disorder and epilepsy. If you are having a rash or anything showing up on the skin, you are having a alergic reaction which can be deadly if not treated and medication is not stopped. Please stop taking imm.

I recently went off Lamictal and had started noticing after a couple of weeks of being off a ringing in my ears that is sporadic and started slowly. And some times I can feel little inner ear muscle twitches associated with the ringing. Pretty weird.

Hello, I know you posted this over a year ago but it is very difficult to find information on this stuff. I am curious about your experience.
I was on lamactil for a little over two years and weened myself off of 200 mg over the course of roughly 3 wks. The side-effects have been so uncomfortable. I have been off it completely for a little over a week but I am still feeling off...dizzy, sick, disoriented and irritable. I am also 2 weeks late on my period. I visited my GYN and had a test a couple of days ago and I am not pregnant. I am worried this is my natural state or something worse.
My question is, how long did you experience withdrawal symptoms?
I appreciate your time.

Lamactil is an anti seizure med also approved to treat Bipolar 1. It's not an anti-depressant. It's used as a mood-stabalizer.

I stopped taking Lamictal over a year ago.. Cold turkey. And let me tell you what it's been one mental ride. I have been stuck in my own little world and nothing has seemed real. Can somebody please tell me what can happen after this long of not doing anything about it.?

I am also experiencing disorientation and can completely forget what in doing our where I am even if it's on a road I drive daily. I was reducing my meds by 50 mg every five days and stopped taking it altogether on Monday when I reached 100mg. My doc is not helpful and wanted me to take six months to go off of it. I have the summer off and need to get it done now. I new have a fever of 101.6 and a stiff neck. It had been three days and I don't want to overreact so I'm looking for reassurance that this can be considered normal.

I can relate to the ED and hairloss. Have same problem with lamictal. I am not able to get or sustain an erection, and my hair looks like c**p. I take liquid tadafill (cialis) to combat the ED. I still was practically dead below the waist. It was heart wrenching, because the girl I'm seeing is so sweet and patient. I stopped taking it a couple days ago to see if it would improve, and sure enough it did, unfortunately it's too late an my relationship has ended, which I can only suspect is because of the ED. I would rather deal with being bipolar, than having no sensitivity , can't ejaculate, can't stay hard, can't get hard... yeah no thanks. I'm going to give CBD oil and nootropics a go... I'm done with pharm stuff for a while.
