Another summer remake but really not a bad movie. Robin and I took JJ and Hannah to the movie and the love it. We actually have two of the original Herbie movies on DVD already so they knew who herbie was.

Herbie is rescued from a junkyard where he is getting ready to go into the crusher and is saved by Maggie Peyton who comes from a family of race car drivers. Herbie starts his antics right away and even beats a NASCAR driver (Matt Dillon) in a street race (he was racing in a Chevy Monte Carlo).
A sub plot is that Maggie was involved in a serious crash, while street racing and her dad (Michael Keaton) does not want her racing at all.

This is as much about "girls can do everything" as it is about a father letting go and allowing his daughter to make her mark in the world.

Hannah liked the fact that the girl won the race.

Overall I felt it was a little bit long and took a long time to get to the NASCAR part of the movie but it held a 3 and 4 year olds interest the whole time. The slapstick comedy, driving and different cars really held the kids interest. We will likely buy this DVD because they liked it so much.

An aside, JJ and Hannah are really into identifying cars as we drive now. So they spent a good deal of time pointing out the different cars the makes and models.

I give the movie a solid 7 out of ten. More for the kids liking it and "getting" the point.

they still were talking about the movie today and different things that happened.
