Hello. I'm 47 year old male and I'm suffering from depression almost ten years now. About 7 of these ten years I’ve been using several antidepressants such as Celexa, Effexor and many others.
About a year ago I started with one new antidepressant called Paxil. My psychiatrist has recommended it to me because it is proven as best antidepressant on the market today.
But lately I have heard a lot of rumors about the fact that very bad side effects are connected with stopping the use of this drug.
Is this true? How come my psychiatrist didn’t tell me anything about this?

Well, I have also heard a lot about this so I asked my friend who is doctor to tell me some right information about this.
He told me that these aren’t rumors but the truth. Many people complaints that stopping the drug causes severe side effects and they vary from flu-like symptoms to electric-shock-like sensations in the brain similar to epileptic strokes.
He told me that this can be avoided with some brain exercises. You have to exercise your will to live not you will to die. Everyone is on this earth for a reason. Finding that reason and finding your will and your passion for life should be your only concern and goal. Wish you luck!

Getting off Paxil can feel like the worst thing ever. I have been on it since I was 18 and I am now 34. The fear of the withdrawls keeps me from trying anything else. I went through the withdrawl process once and for 2 weeks I felt animated...dizzy, jittery, nausa, migraines. It is horrible. Right now I haven't had it for 2 days because I am waiting for my prescription and I feel like I am going to burst into tears at any moment. So yes the withdrawls do suck. I wish you luck.
