having a partial thickness tear converted to full tear, any suggestions?

i have a partial thickness tear to distal supraspinatus tendon and footplate that has not responded to conservative treatment, so ortho said he would convert to full tear and repair, just wondering if any one has been through this, and if so what do i have to look forward to. thanks
