Is it normal for my toenails to go black after a longer race?

Answered by a doctor

Ever since I started to run longer races I have noticed that my toenails have turned black. Not all of them of course. It is getting worse and I am afraid that my toenails will fall off. My brother says that it is normal for long distance runners and that I should get used to it. What do you think?

Which race to run?

So yet again I'm in the situation with a several races close together. I really want to run the marathon on 2/29, but I know I'm not ready for it. I haven't been running since late December (with the exception of last week). I'm pretty sure I could complete the full, but it wouldn't be pretty. It's...

The Power of Positive Imaging

Do you do this? Positive imaging before a big race? Do you believe it works? For me I believe in it. Maybe just to calm me down a bit or to get focused. Before a big race or even before a long run I try to imagine how I'll feel. How my body feels, how strong I am. I imagine different points...

What to do when your legs are sore?

What to do when your legs are sore? I’m a recreational runner and this is the problem I’ve been facing for the last two months. I even made a pause and quit training for a week or two, and when everything was fine I started training again. And soreness got back again. What am I doing...

Why do my knees get red while running?

Answered by a doctor

When I run, it looks like my knees are sunburned. I never thought much about it until a few other people asked me about it. My knees get red, nothing hurts, I have no problems with my knees, they just turn red. is it because the blood is flowing through them more as I'm running?

I feel like running even when im driving...

Answered by a doctor

I see a runner, my stomach flips and I think about how much I'd like to be running too, instead of doing whatever it is I have to do. Recently, I saw a runner and had the same kind of feeling but, get this, I was already running!

I destroyed a brand new stepper!

So I buy the stepper, get it home and all set up. Then I go to town on it...man I am really rocking...then I hear PACHUNK! And there's oil everywhere. Oh but it was soooo good to break a real sweat that I don't care that I have to return in. I got 34 minutes of cardio in!!

Why is my running not improving?

Answered by a doctor

I've been running since 7th grade and now I'm in my first year at college. I'm really slow and don't seem to be improving any more. I really don't understand what the problem is. Somebody give me advice please. :(

What matters more to you Speed or Distance?

As I look at my running log for this month and the comments from each day of training. I found I tend to talk/write about how I feel as the miles progress on that day run despite having some great days where I'm getting faster, and more into the way I used to run prior to my injuries. So is it...
