Interstitial lung disease involves over 180 chronic lung disorders. The diseases got their name because the tissue between the air sacs of the lungs, the interstitium, is affected by fibrosis (scarring). This category of diseases is also known as Pulmonary Fibrosis. Most of the diseases cause inflammations of the bronchioles, alveoli or small blood vessels — affecting breathing and oxygen transport. What causes lung to collapse?

I’m not enough informed about collapsed lung, but I want to know much more about it because my really good friend has it. Somebody told me that it doesn’t need to be dangerous but still I’m worried a lot. Please, can somebody tell me what causes lung to collapse? Thanks!

My father has collapsed lung. He is on therapy since last week and he is better now. We hope that he will be ok soon. But I don’t know how it happened to him. He didn’t know that he had any lung disease. I’m wondering can lung collapse spontaneously? Thanks!
