My father has collapsed lung. He is on therapy since last week and he is better now. We hope that he will be ok soon. But I don’t know how it happened to him. He didn’t know that he had any lung disease. I’m wondering can lung collapse spontaneously? Thanks!

A spontaneous collapsed lung occurs as a result of lung diseases such as emphysema, asthma, cystic fibrosis and pneumonia. This condition also can develop in people who don't have any obvious lung disease. It's most common in tall, thin men between the ages of 20 and 40 and is much more common in smokers.
