Hello,
I was prescribed Tricor (fenofibrate) two weeks ago, after my results for both triglycerides and LDL cholesterol came as way too high. I started taking medication the next day and it started making me nauseous pretty much immediately after I took the first pill. My doctor warned me to call him if I notice any unusual muscle or joint pain, or flu like symptoms, but I don’t have any of those side effects, it’s mostly my stomach that’s affected.
Now I’m having almost constant nausea with pain probably from acid reflux even though I'm on Fenofibrate for two weeks. Can I expect this to stop, or should I talk to my doctor about stopping Tricor?

Hi,
one of the more common side effects of Fenofibrate is related to stomach problems, varying from nausea to severe abdominal pain. The higher the dose of fenofibrate you take, the bigger the chances are you'll experience these side effects, but either way, I'd recommend you to talk to your doctor about either lowering the dose of Fenofibrate you're taking, or, if your LDL cholesterol levels are dangerously high, maybe some of the statin medications would work better for you.
