Hello,

I started taking Pravastatin 2 months ago, 20 mg. I am exhausted, I’m experiencing pain while urinating, all joints and muscles hurt, extreme pain in legs and left arm, hard to lift, diarrhea, tingly itchy hands/feet. Feels like I was run over and I’m pretty sure I don’t have UTI.

I have a family history of heart-related problems and my LDL cholesterol is high, but I don’t have any major health issues besides that. I have a feeling as if I was prescribed this medication just because I’m 52 - the physician didn’t even give me a chance to try to reduce my cholesterol with diet.

I'm afraid if you go off that it can cause a heart attack, how dangerous is it if I just stop taking it?

Hello Kyle,

You should definitely contact either your pharmacist or directly the doctor who prescribed you Pravastatin. You are having too much side effects from taking it: muscle and joint pain are one of the most common side effects statin medications have, together with problems with memory and potential for toxicity related to your liver or kidneys.

Just to make sure what exactly is causing your problems with urination - a simple infection or is it perhaps too caused by Pravastatin, you should check the situation with your doctor before deciding to do anything too drastic on your own.
