My little obsessions while running, any similar experiences?

Answered by a doctor

1) when running if I feel even the slightest twinge I have visions of being in agony for 26.2 miles 2) bizarre dream where I thought the finish line was at mile 23 and didn't find out later until hours later that I didn't really finish the marathon  3) feeling like I'm not ready and...

Who needs racing flats?

I'm strictly a mid-pack runner, but I'm wondering at what point racing flats would be beneficial (or at least economical). I've always raced in whatever training shoes I happen to have - currently Saucony Trigon 2s. I just ran a 5K, I've got another in two weeks, and the NYC marathon in November -...

I'm getting grief (indirect) about not running a race

Answered by a doctor

Next month we will have our marathon here in town. The course passes by on the very place where I work, and so as we have decided to have a water/gaterade stand as the runners go by. This is a race where our sports writer (all 300 lbs of him) back in Jan decided to run the marathon, but has...

What else to eat on long runs?

I have come to the conclusion that GU Gels and I don't get along. A Gel at mile 6 resulted in a bathroom stop at mile 8. So on long runs, what, if anything, beside carbohydrate gels do you imbibe? What works for you?

When to go from 400's to 800's?

I've been on a training program that had me doing trackwork. I've been running 400's. It's helped me out alot, but I was wondering when or even if, I should switch to 800's?

Runner Rash on my arms?

Answered by a doctor

Has anyone gotten a rash/irritation on the area under their arm near their Latissimus Dorsi and into the tricep area? It sure feels like I got it today during my long run? I guess I might need to start coating my whole body in Vaseline so I stop rubbing body parts together.

How do you deal with sweat in your eyes while running?

Answered by a doctor

I've been having a problem with sweat in my eyes, especially this morning. A little drop at the corner of the eye I can handle. What I can't handle is when my eyes just get flooded with sweat and burn so much I can't keep them open. I seriously ran half a mile this morning with my eyes squinched...

How do you motivate yourself to keep working out?

I've really started to slack on hitting the weights. I used to get up and lift 3 or 4 days a week. I looked at my training log over the weekend and I haven't lifted since February. I'm starting to thin down quite a bit. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I'm starting to get quite a bit weaker...
