Aspartame and stomach ache

Hi. I drink a lot of diet drinks that include aspartame. Generally I had no trouble with it but recently I’ve started feeling severe stomach ache. Is it possible that aspartame is a cause for it?? Can someone tell me more about it? Thanks for all replies.
