Can a personality disorder be followed with a psychotic episode?

Good evening, people. My friend has a personality disorder. He has symptoms, but he is mostly handling them very well. However, I would like to know if this kind of disorder can be followed with a psychotic episode. I would appreciate if someone could tell me something more about this. Thanks.
