How long should you maintain your base before starting speedwork?

How long should you maintain your base before starting speedwork. Hypothetical: Say your goal base is 30 mpw. Should you run at that mileage for a few weeks before beginning speedwork, or is it ok to just jump into it when you hit that mileage goal?

How to start training again after a break?

Okay, so I was sick for a little while. During that time, I had no energy so I didn't run at all. Now I've slacked off and can't seem to get back into the game. I go outside now but I just walk instead of picking up the pace to a jog. I used to do about 5 miles three times per week. What...

Do I have to do legs if I run enough?

I have always loved weightlifting. However, I hate the extreme soreness that follows leg day. Now that I'm also an avid runner I hate it even more. Is there some point where you can say, OK I run x# of miles a week so I don't do legs anymore? I've read a few of the posts here and I'm almost...

How to motivate myself to get back on the threadmill?

After two weeks of sick kids and sick me I can't find the motivation to get on the treadmill again. I ran outside once in that time but my chances to get outside is limited to weekends so I need to drag my butt onto that TM soon. On a good note, I did sign up for my 1st 5k in October. You would...
