lump on windpipe

My doctor informed me that they found a lump on my windpipe. They still don't know any further details and all I have been given is this useless NHS brochure that talks about possible diagnoses. I am out of my mind thinking I have cancer, though the doc said this is unlikely. Just wanted to vent.

I ALWAYS GET A ITCHY THROAT THAT CAUSES ME TO COUGH AT ANY TIME AND IT IS ANNOYING. MY MOTHER HAS THE SAME THING SO I THOUGHT THAT IS MIGHT HE HEREDITARY BUT I DON'T KNOW. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET RID OF THIS FOR I CANNOT SLEEP OR ANYTHING BECAUSE I AM ALWAYS COUGHING.
