I'm having the same problem, but I only got mine about a month ago. I've been reading and everything I read has said it's a normal thing that happens. I'm going to talk to the doctor that gave me it just in case. The reason is, I read that it could be a sign that it's either not strong enough or you are late with your next shot(which cannot be the problem because I still have two months). I read that it's just your body cleaning itself out. I recommend asking your doctor too just to be safe. Good luck!

My fiance' has been on it for 13 plus years and hasn't had a period will get break through bleeding if she is late on her shot. She thinks a lot of women she knows that have not been on any other birth control prior to trying Depo seem to have a better results. I am trying it again after not being on anything since 2001 and the last cpl days have a brownish discharge but only when I wipe that I have noticed. Could this be my period???

Totally agree! I have now neen on it for 19 years and never had a period, no weight gain, no bone problems and no loss of sex drive... if anything it improved! Think it's different with each person, just like there are so many different types of pills out there as we are all different.
My kids are now adults so no need for me to go off it and even my 22 year old daughter has been on it since she was 16! She also has had no side effects...

I've been on Depo since 2013. This past May, I missed my injection and ended up getting it a month later in June. Now it's like my body is getting used to the depo all over again. I'm having the brown, mucusy discharge, cramps, etc. On the bright side, I still haven't had any serious bleeding for four years. The brown mucus is the closest thing I have to a period. I'm hoping after the old blood sheds, things will go back to normal.
Btw, I love depo. It's definitely not for everyone, but it's seriously helped with my ovarian cyst syndrome. In four years, I probably gained about 5 pounds, but that's the extent of my complaints.

I've went through a lot of forums and I notice a lot of people have 'faux' pregnancy symptoms when they come off Depo-Provera or miss their sh*t.

However, I was over a month late on my injection when I'd had sex around late June and on July 12th started a very light pink spotting and other pregnancy symptoms. It's now been a month, and I've had the shot for about two weeks or so now, and my primary care doctor said it was the lack of testosterone except, I still feel the same way. I did a little research because I've always had very light, three day cycles exactly 28 to 30 days apart and found it's not exactly prudent to take a pregnancy test earlier than when your next cycle is supposed to be do. I had my shot barely two weeks after the pink spotting and am now considering getting another test done, but blood this time. I was tested for STDs or vaginal infections at the doctor and was told nothing was abnormal so I shrugged it off, except I'm still having migraines, cramps, nausea, food cravings, mood swings, appetite issues, sleep problems, light brown odd smelling discharge, and exhaustion. My family is worried that my blood levels might be out of whack, but I'm just so tired of being in pain and unable to sleep and not being able to eat or overeating. Depo Provera caused me to slowly gain 20 lbs in a YEAR. I want to know what could be causing my problems and why I feel this way. I also want to know an alternate form of birth control (that isn't pills) that don't have so many damaging symptoms.

I've been on drop since 2000. I have not had any problems with it at all. I have not had any bone mass loss. I don't have brown dis barge unless I'm coming to the end of the 3 months. With 2 of my children I got pregnant within in 30days of coming off the shot. I like it because I don't have a period. It helped with my acne. And with my attitude./hormones. I tried every other form of bc and for my this is the Best. So it depends on the person. Because we all have different chemical make ups. But I have really liked using it. 18 years and going strong. No weight gain. But I am also on my feet a lot and I stay healthy by what im eating and walking. And being proactive also with my mental health. I do recommend this but i know for a big number of people 50/50 it does and doesnt work for like all bc. But i am very pleased with it.

I don’t know who told you that because I got pregnant in between my Depo shots. I was off of it for 15 days & got pregnant. I’ve heard it’s super easy to get pregnant right after getting off of any kind of birth control.
