Thank you for your posts on Effexor. I have been on this medication for about 4 years now and recently decided that I would only take Welbutrin as this works better for me on its own. Wow, what a surprise. I took 3 weeks, with the help of my amazing Doctor, of coming down slowly week to weekon reduced sr medication, but after 3 days I feel so ill. I have just phoned my Doctor to see if this is a "tummy bug" or what.....
Nope, for sure the sickness, diarhrrea, sweats, zinging in my head whenever I move and awful head aches are all part symptoms of "coming down."
Day 4, I have hardly eaten now since 3 days ago but my stomach seems to be swollen and bloated. I cannot think properly and whenever I move about those zings keep coming back into my head and I seem to have an imbalance where I cannot move too quickly without bumping into things.
I am still feeling queasy to the point where this seems to be welling up in my throat but I don't move or cough so I won't throw up.
This morning I thought maybe I had suffered a stroke, after all I am coming up to my 60th birthday (or not.)
Having read withdrawal symptons of Effexor or its generic brand Venlaxofine seem to be horrific and I, from feeling wonderful about a week ago, almost feel worse than I was before I took Effexor. I will certainly write to the Drug Company about this, although I have neither the effort, means or time now to do anything about this further.
My husband, who never felt I needed to go on to anti-deppresant drugs, has had no sympathy whatsoever and I feel as if I just want to curl up somewhere quietly etc.
Thanks for your posts, do keep them coming, people should be made aware of this and how severe these symptons can be.
I should alsos tell you that I work with special needs children, many of whom are now taking drugs to help them through whatever may be thought to be wrong with them. I have always been a true advocator of some of these drugs, but from today I am having serious doubts about what the future may hold for these children.....
