Many people here have called Effexor an evil drug.  I think the reason for that is because it is difficult to withdraw from.  I don't think it is evil if it helps people, like me, with depression, anxiety and panics.  I have never had any side effects whilst taking 150mg for nine years.  In all, I have been on antidepressants for over 20 years.

Earlier this year (2013) my doctor suggested I withdraw and see how I go.  I am now into my 10th month of withdrawing and have had no withdrawal side effects at all.  When I stopped it cold turkey once before, I got many side effects and was poorly for a couple of weeks.  

This time, by taking it really, really slowly I have been fine.  We are all different, and react differently to drugs.  For instance I was very ill with Prozac, and could never take it again.  I have been really well on Effexor.

 

I am 72 years of age, so if I can withdraw from Effexor with no problem, I believe others can too.  JUST TAKE IT REALLY SLOWLY.
