how does cortisone injections effect your period

I don't normally have regular periods, Doctors tell me it's because I'm over weight, I have been receiving cortisone injections in both legs every 4 months and after I get them , my period started, I think it's a good thing for me ,I'm 56 years old ,yes I believe that cortisone has something to do with menstrual cycle.
