I have heard about MGC recently, but I am not sure I‘ve realized what does it mean. I am very interested in genetic. I am 15 years old and I hope that I can find some answers here. I think that it has something to do with cloning.

The MGC is a searchable collection of thousands of full-length open reading frame cDNA clones from human, rat, and mouse. There Two very important points about the collection. First the MGC is a physical, as opposed to a digital, collection of clones and second the clones in the collection are available to the research community through the clone distribution network of the I.M.A.G.E. (Integrated Molecular Analysis of Genomes and their Expression) Consortium. This exists to provide quality, arrayed cDNA libraries and place sequence, map, and expression data on the clones in these arrays into the public domain. In other words, you can find here all, when your research requires a specific cDNA clone for recombinant protein expression, mutation research.
