My birth control is making me start my period.

I was in between birth control packs for about 4 days. I'm currently taking trinessa. I didn't start my period in between so I went ahead and started taking the new pack. i noticed that i started my period but i had just had one a week before so i kept taking the birth control like normal to make it stop. Then i noticed it was actually the birth control that was making me start. i took a pill and twenty minutes later i would start spotting. About 6 hrs later it would stop. I've never had the pill make me start to spot. i've been on the same kind for five months now. Any advice?
