My husband was diagnosed with PMR in late December. He had leg and arm pain, and for a brief period at first, some head pain in the back of his head, but that quickly disappeared. He had intermittent fever, lost 15 pounds (muscle mass) and felt generally horrible. Upon diagnosis, started on 10mg of prednisone and didn't get much relief, so the doctor increased it to 20mg daily. Since then, he has felt much better. However, after a month of 20mg a day, he had another blood test which showed a very high ESR and CRP rate, so the doctor increased his dose to 40mg a day. He feels no differently than he did on 20mg, and he thinks he's getting better. He is working out with light weights every other day and walks most days, able to remain active, though less strenuously so than before. We're not sure what this is now, nor is the doctor. Anybody have information about what it might be? Now the doc is saying another blood test after a month of 40mg, then go on methatroxate.
