Thank God for this site, I felt so alone in this situation. Unlike most of the comments that I read my fistula is a result of a hystorectomy which caused a hematoma in which the Dr. stated that my rectum was against the hematoma and she injured it during ther surgery. I am planning on going to the cleveland clinc in cleveland to have it repaired hopefully by a colerectal surgeon. I am a little dis hearten because of the number of surgeries that have resulted in failure. I can't imagine living the rest of my life with this, I am 46 and still very active with my husband. How long should I have to wait to have the surgery and what about repairing the vaginal side of the fistula, who should do that? and do you guys no how long I will have to wait before I can have the vaginal side corrected? :'(
