Hi, folks. My brother was diagnosed with clinical depression and now he is on citalopram. I think that in time doctor will exclude this drug from his treatment. I would like to know if there are side effects of withdrawal from this drug. Does anyone know? I would appreciate it. Bye!

Hello. Citalopram belongs to a group of SSRIs or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It can cause side effects in general when applying. Some of them are: dizziness, dry mouth, rarely bruxism, fatigue, etc. Withdrawal syndrome is reported when you stop taking Citalopram suddenly. Doctors usually prescribe Prozac when exclude Citalopram from the treatment. I am sure your brother’s doctor is aware of that. I hope everything will be all right. Bye!
