Thank you for your post. I will go at a closer pace. I'm down to 25 mg. last night I bite that into a quarter and I feel awful this morning. I'll try 25 mg. for a few months then try reducing that amount. This medication has hurt my digestive track , causes panic attacts , night sweats. Muscle stiffness, headaches. Your post makes sense to me.

It is Definitely the Seroquel. Been there, done that!

kudos to you! You don't ever have to stay on any antidepressant if you aren't benefiting from it. :)

I'm so sorry to hear your story. Of course the Doctor's will NOT admit the withdrawal symptoms from the drugs they prescribe and some withdrawal symptoms are very dangerous & DEADLY. Believe me I know. I too just accidentally ran out of my Trazodone and immediately became overly irritable, emotionally unstable (emotional crying for no reason), disturbed sleep and chronic fatigue, flu like symptoms. I sure would like to know WHEN our caring Professional Doctors are going to get honest with us regarding Psychiatric Drug Withdrawals. My mental health care workers informed me it was just 'fine' to cold turkey from a 10 year addiction to Klonopin because they said I was on such a low dose. That withdrawal almost killed me physically, mentally, & emotionally with 50 horrendous, dangerous symptoms including hallucinations, seizures and complete loss of contact with Reality. Thanks to our caring Doctors! Dr. Peter Breggin's books are a god send when it comes to withdrawals. He informs us of the truth about Psychiatric Withdrawals when our own Doctors & Psychiatrist's will NOT. Good luck to you.

I have been taking Trazodone 100 mg for 3 weeks for help with insomnia.  I also take Xanax which is what really helps me get to sleep.  I want to taper off both these medication, but first the Trazodone because I've been taking it such a short time.  It only helps me get about 4 or 5 hours sleep and I feel like a zombie the next day.  Do I need to taper?  How quickly can I do that?

Dear sally, Yes, i too went cold turkey like you. I also experienced the same symptoms as you desribed in your original post.
It took about 45 days and I was back to normal. This was a result of an altered diet and 5 days a week of exercise. Still experienced sleep issues, such as waking in the middle of the night. Believe me, this wil pass in time and you will resume a normal life. Much success. You can do it!

I am SO GLAD I read these posts. I've been taking 200 mg of Trazadone for 15 years for sleep, but it has stopped working for the most part. So my doctor prescribed Vistroril (sp?). On my 2nd day (today) I was so on edge and ready to put my fist through a wall today that I thought I was gonna lose it!!! Yes, crying and everything at work! I thought it was a bad reaction to the new medication. Then it occurred to me ... 15 years on Trazadone, and going cold turkey? Thank you so much for your posts. It helps to know what's going on!

I have been taking 25 mg of Trazadone for almost two years because I cannot sleep....my brain just spins 24 hours a day.  I stopped about two weeks ago because I've been feeling panicky and anxious, can't control it and thought it might be this med.  Since stopping I was okay for about two weeks and then BOOM...have been literally sick to my stomach, panicky, scared, manic/depressive.  I feel like I'm going crazy.  After I thought about it, I decided it had to be withdrawals so went back to it.  I'm going back to the doctor; this is nuts.  I do not like being dependent on this stuff, but man, the craziness I feel is just overwhelming.  Damned if I do take it, damned if I don't.  I am scared to stop it because of the thoughts in my head.

Clonazepam withdrawal is long and difficult for some of us. It is a benzodiazpine, and stays in the body for a long time after you stop taking it. My doc just prescribed trazedone to help me get off Clonazepam. Try to get some support and help from a knowlegeable doctor. The hospital is a great idea if that's available to you. Google "stories of people getting off Klonapin (same as Clonazepam), and you will see you are not alone. Good luck!
