Hi, all. I am writing to figure out maybe what I am experiencing could be related to quitting klonapin.
I would like to start by saying I had been on klonapin 1-2mg's for past 10 yrs. I had to quit cold turkey this past Feb. First few weeks were hard. I had alot of trouble sleeping and when I was up I just felt off-balanced and extremely dizzy. At same time i got a tightness in my left arm. Sometimes I would have numbness..pins and needles feeling. It would hurt really bad. I got in reg doc end of Feb and he suggested physical therapy for the arm. I did nothing to my arm only thing that changed in my routine was the absence of klonapin. I declined going to PT because I dont have the insurance to cover it. To speed things up. The pain I only had in my left arm was now spreading down into my legs and feet. Went back to the doc in end of april he did a full physical and blood work. Labs came back ok with exception of having high cholesterol. which i take meds to now manage with excercise and diet. The pain has not gone away at all in my arm or leg. It feels like someone has a turnicit (spelling) around my upper arm. Im wondering could this be apart of klonapin withdrawal ?

Did you happen to mention to your doctor that you had stopped Klonopin use or anything like that? If you did not mention it, then your doctor would be unable to help you when you visited because he would have an incomplete picture as to what you actually have or don't have.
I think it would be a good idea to go see your doctor again and tell your doctor the full story if you haven't already. Try as well to see if you can't get physical therapy and have it covered by your insurance. Please let us know how things turn out.

Hi,
Yes, i didn mention to my doctor that I stopped the klonapin back in Feb. He said by this time it should be out of my system by now. I tried to see if he would write me a script last visit (last week) he said no. He said all syptoms I am presenting to him could be just depression. Then continued to say people who are depressed have multiple things going on at once. He then was going to write a script for zolft byt I had bad experience with that. I explained to him I have tried most SSRI, tricyclic meds out there. He then prescribed me lithium...Which I dont get im not bipolar/schizophenic and dont see how this will help with my anxiety.
I talked to my doc again. He referred me to a neurologist to see whats going on with my arm/leg. Hopefully they will figure this out.

Lithium is not solely for people who are bipolar, and it can help with anxiety, so do keep your mind open to that. I am glad to hear that he at least didn't write script for another SSRI that you don't deal well with.
I'm glad to hear that you are going to a neurologist because I think that is the best way to find out what's going on. I hope that you can keep us updated on how this goes for you.

I will definately keep an open mind with the lithium. Right now i really don't want to try it because im afraid of all the side effects. And if its anything like ssri's that always make my anxiety go through the roof I rather wait till maybe i can find a doc that will right me a benzo to help minimize it some.
Definately will keep ya posted on next appt with neurologist.
