Last month the day I stopped bleeding, i douched, then I used a gel contraceptive then had sex with my boyfriend. The next morning I took the plan B pill. About a week later I had bleeding. It was dark the first 2 days then a bright red for about 6 days then dark again for the final few. It as abnormally longer than my usual periods. I don't usually have a regular flow, but for the previous few months I seemed to have regulated. I started having my period around the 4th. Now I'm a week late for my period, and nothing. I've taken 2 pregnancy test both were negative. Is it likely that I'm pregnant?? How long should I wait before taking another pregnancy test?

I can tell you, for a fact, that it was because of Plan B. It can make your periods earlier or later, lighter or heavier... it just depends on the woman. I personally had a normal period but started about a day later than usual. My cousin, however, had a longer and much heavier period than normal and started a little bit earlier than usual. Plan B can honestly make your periods a little irregular for a few cycles even. If you're a week late for your period and you've had two negative pregnancy tests, I assume you're not pregnant. However, I really think you should consider another method of birth control that is a little more set in stone like the pill or use condoms rather than relying on a gel contraceptive or use a combination for optimum protection.

Thank you so much! I've been worried sick!
So that random bleeding was because of the plan B? I thought it was because of the gen contraceptive stick. Maybe I had pushed it too far.
the bleeding was heavy and clotty. Is clotty good? Neutral?
Yeah, we usually use condoms and a gel contraceptive, but we were out of condoms, and I wasn't thinking ahead or being smart about the situation.

Does bleeding so soon after using the plan B mean you're not pregnant?
Does that period that happened a week after my initial period count as my period for this month? or am I supposed to bleed again in about 28 days from the last bleeding?

Heavy and clotty is usually good, yes. I don't really know how much bleeding you'll have just because mine was regular and I've known others where it has taken a few cycles to get their period on the right track and normal again, but I assume you can count that as a regular period bleed. If you have any other questions, I would probably call ask a nurse or your gynecologist just because they are a little more knowledgeable in this field that I am. :) I just know from experience.
