I have read a lot of posts here about side effects of Lexapro and it is very helpful. Here is my story and question. I have been on Lexapro for 2 years (Anxiety) It tremendously helped me and I felt great. However, the side effects of weight gain and sexual side effects are very real. I never intended on getting off Lexapro but it happened by accident. I never thought it would happen to me. A pharmacy gave me Lipator instead of Lexapro. Big mess up and I noticed the pill was oval shaped instead of a circle. I just assumed they changed the shape of them. (My stupidity) I took these lipitor pills for a week and a half. The best way I can describe it was a tingling feeling in my head that was very annoying and a sinking feeling like being on an elevator that is taking off fast downward. Or being on a plane that suddenly drops or slows the engine. It would continue througout the day and for a whole week I could hardly function. It wasn't really pain but it might as well have been because I couldn't focus on anything and everything irritated me. I decided to check the pills sure enough it was Lipitor. I even went to the doctor to see if I have some type of tumor or what?? As soon as I got back on the Lexapro the symptoms went away. Took a couple of days but all was good. A lot more to that story with the Pharmacy but I won't go into that.
Now about a year later, I got very sick throwing up and diarrhea for about 24 hours. I am feeling the exact same feeling the day after being sick. The only difference is that I have not felt the sinking feeling but my head is tingling, pressure, etc. just like before when I was off. I am just wondering if somehow emptying my body by throwing up and diarrhea could have been the cause somehow or if maybe the pills they gave me (different pharmacy) are outdated or no good somehow. They are coded as Lexapro but I am considering taking them back and getting replacement. Any thoughts would be appreciated. ?
