I have been on verapamil 240mg 1xday for about 18mos my bp is still in the 145/100 range. My doctor just added linsinopril 5mg 1xday as well. How does linsinopril work and doe it have major side effects?

Lisinoprils most common side effect is a cough, Ive heard. My blood pressure remained high while I was taking it but I am currently on something different now because I couldnt tolerate the cough. It occured to me recently that my doctor never suggested a change in diet and in the past Ive heard that it can be helpful but what changes need to be made? I am considering seeing a different doctor for a second opinion and/or possibly a nutritionist. I believe that is a good place to start. So my suggestion is to continue with your meds but also ask your doc what changes you can make in your diet to help boost the benefits.
