Movie: Meet the Fockers

I'm bad at this whole review thing, but I'll give it a go. I adored "Meet the Parents" I thought it was the right dose of reality with a little absurd mixed in with some of my favorite actors, and it came off hysterically. I usually don't like sequels, the magic created in a first go is usually hard to recreate with a realistic plot, but when the sequel is introduced with Greg's parents being two of my favorite actors Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand yes I just admitted I like barbra streisand, get over it and a believable scenario (the parents meet each other in preparation for the upcoming wedding) I thought I would give it a whirl. While I did laugh and overall enjoyed it, I would give this 2 1/2 stars out of 4, not surprising to most I'm sure, but I had higher expectations. Where the first one was a good balance of reality and where reality could go horribly, unrealistically but hysterically wrong, this one contained nothing you could actually relate to, but lots of unbelievable gags. And lots of just gags, not very much in the 'clever' category. The casting was as good as expected however, and they lived up to their billing, enough that a lot of cheap gags were forgiven/still really funny. If you liked "meet the parents" I would still say you should see this, there are some laughs (not as many) but wait for rental as I was disappointed in the theater.
