You've heard the "It's just like Madagascar, Disney is a rip-off", because I heard it too. We actually liked this movie better than Madagascar and we loved Madagascar.
It's a different kind of animation which is pretty cool - the animals look real, but they're animated.
There are a couple sad parts (the girlie's words), but it was really funny. Our favorite part included Larry the snake who isn't so smart.
Storyline: A lion cub idolizes his father, the King of the Wild who is constantly telling stories of his days in the Wild. The cub can't roar and he thinks it's because he's lived in captivity his whole life. In the night while the other animals are off playing, he uses his agility to climb the tree and jump over the fence into a Rescue Africa container that brings animals back to the wild. The other zoo animals follow him to an island where they find some insane Wildebeast. William Shatner and the big guy with the booming voice who played Elaine's boyfriend in Seinfeld are wildebeast. Their goal is to find the lion cub and get back to the NY, where they have the good life.
The kids will love this movie and it's not bad for the adults, especially if you liked Madagascar, you'll like this one too.
