I never get bloody noses otherwise, and this has been happening like clockwork for about 7 years. (we have been married for 26 yrs and are in our mid-late 40's)
I have searched high and low, and have never been able to find any information about this ever happening to anyone else.

Just adding to the experiences!
I am 29 and have also been having nose bleeds right before or during my period ever since I can remember. At first I didn't thought the nose bleed was related to having my period, but after it kept on happening it became evident. Last one was on my right nostril as many of you describe, I will try to keep track on whether it is always on that one from now on.
It's so nice to see i am not the only one... :) We women are such heroes dealing with all this things!

I've noticed a change with mine recently, the nosebleeds have stopped being so big but I'm getting really dizzy when I have one instead. Last week my legs went from under me when it happened. I could cope with the bleeding but this is getting a bit scary now.

I'm 21 and this has been happening to me since I was probably 16. It doesn't mean anything is wrong, if the nosebleeds get bad though, it wouldn't hurt to consult your doctor. Everyone's body is different and we all carry different sets of symptoms for PMS. This is just one of the symptoms we get.

I am 43 and have been getting nose bleeds for a few years now. I have finally correlated the nose bleed with my cycle and occasionally during ovulation. Left nostril for me. I squeeze my nose to stop the bleeding. I also apply a natural "vaseline" product (non-petroleum based) to the inside of my nostril and it seems to help during the bleeding times.
This has occured in the middle of the night when I am awakened with a popping sensation in my nostril. Some bleeds are heavier than others. My doctor says that my blood vessels must be close to the surface and the dry air is causing this; however, it occurs in the humid summer months also.
I feel bad for the young women who are embarrassed by this, don't be. Apparently there are a lot of women who have to deal with this- welcome to the club. You are not judged by your problems but how you deal with them. I now understand why my grandmother's generation is known for tucking a kleenex/handkerchief inside their shirt sleeve.
Thanks for the other posts, I am glad to know that I am not alone.

Ladies, I would recommend looking into endometriosis. Uterine tissue can grow outside of the uterus, and it causes me not have a bloody nose- not a nosebleed, but I will nose my nose and see blood on the tissue my the mucus.
