Hi. :-D
I am a normally very healthy and active 28 year old female from North Alabama. I suffer from seasonal spring time allergies which this year has been magnified about 1000 times in my area. About two weeks ago, my doctor gave me a 40 Mg. dose of a steroid injection. Mainly because of my asthma. Since the morning after the injection, I have been run-down, fatigued, changes in vision, focus issues, mood changes, insomnia, muscle cramps, loss of appetite and all out blue feeling. I followed up with my CNP and she told me she didn’t think my symptoms were related to the injection. She actually went as far as to put me on an anti depressant (which I took one and stopped because of how weird I felt on it) My true feelings are that I am not depressed, and if I am, it’s because of how horrible I have felt the past few weeks. I can actually remember the feeling when it came over me. It’s like someone just dropped a curtain over my head and it came on so fast from my normal feelings that I can’t believe its clinical depression. Not to mention, the coincidence of it being the very next morning. Also, it just “feels” physical, not mental. I am usually a very sociable, active, healthy person who has excelled at my job the past 4 years, to a run –down, edgy, moody, exhausted mentally and physically person who barely can get up for work because I am so tired and run down since this injection. My mother is an RN going on 30 years. She seems to think it’s definitely a reaction to the steroid shot along with other meds that have just depleted my immunity. She says that cortisone shots zap your adrenal gland and since it is a slow release medication, it is still in my system making me feel out of sorts and foggy. Can you please help me? I don’t know if I’ll ever feel like my old self again and that scares me!
Sick and tired
