Hi, I had 3 sciatic cortisone injection (once every two weeks intervals). I had my period for one month, after the second shot my face, the space between my collar bone y and shoulder and around my neck and back are swelled up and for a while I felt my throat was swelling as well. I took Benadryl every time and it helped with the swelling in throat but not the rest. My Dr. would not accept that it was related to the injection but then again slept off his mouth that he has never see it last this long and that there is nothing I can do about it. Its being almost 2 month and my face and the rest of the swelling is still there. Have any of you reacted this way to the shot and how long did the side effect last?

I just was searching side effects of cortizone on my computer, just googled it, and I found that it can sometimes lead to a condition called Cushings syndrome, and the side effects sounded a lot like some of what you are going through.  Also, if you have a doctor who wont listen to you, and take what you say to heart, then find another doctor.  I have never heard of anyone getting cortizone injections that often.  I have just started using it and it really helped me, but my understanding is that one shot should last weeks or months, and you shouldn't get them more than once every six weeks.  Again, find another doctor, and get well soon.  I ( honestly) know how much you want out of pain, but this is very strange.  It can also damage your heart over time.  Best wishes.
