Hi everyone...So like everyone else here I am experiencing the withdrawls of stopping Lexapro. Migranes, brain tremors, light sensitive uncontrolable crying. I went from 20mg to 15 for 3 days to 10 to 5 so 9 days total and I stoped completly. Now that Im reading more about comming off of this drug Im thinking I should have spaned it out longer. My question now is because of these terrible side effects should I mabey start taking a small dose again for a few more weeks? Will it make the withdrawls more bearable? Or should I just remain off and tough it out. It's just scaring me a little to read these side effects can go on for months. :'(

@ dmarie1680: I went cold turkey (by accident) 12 days ago off of 5mg. On day 3 I noticed withdrawal symptoms (floating head feeling, agitation, crying, dizzyness, etc.) and by day 9 that was over except for the occasional floating head feeling. Otherwise I am fine now, just back to having all the anxiety symptoms I had 4 years ago before I started on the Lexapro.
A lot of people are having horrible withdrawals. However, think back to how long it took you to adjust to the medication and be free of most of the start-up side effects. For me it was about 7 days. Also it takes about a week for Lexapro to completely leave your body. So I figured it would be about that long to be over the withdrawal side effects. It makes sense that it will take the same time to adjust to starting as to stopping. Turns out for me that I was right.
Are you experiencing any withdrawal effects yet? Perhaps if you just now stopped completely you could do a week of 2.5mg to taper a little more. Then maybe every other day for a week. Then none. It's safe to split/crush the lexapro pills, unlike most other medication.
Of course, I cannot stress this enough, medication affects everyone differently AND consult with your doctor. ;-)

How long does the side effects last after stopping the Lexapro medication? Has anyone lost their sex drive from the medication?
