Hi
I had been taking lexapro/cipralex for 5 months and really couldn't handle the side effects. Stupidly I came off the medication without tapering off. Although I lost the zombie like status after a few weeks I am still getting brain zaps, muscle twitching and random red spots and pain in my joints after 6 months. Has anyone got any advice what to do. I have been to the doctors and had blood tests etc to rule out other possibilities. Can you still experience side effects after this length of time? I hope you are all making progress it takes alot of time and courage to drag yourself up back to normality. Good Luck my thoughts are with u all.

I am on this site looking for info about Lexapro withdrawal as well. I have been taken Lexapro for approx 3 years and stopped cold turkey because I felt like it was time. (Though tapering is definitely more sensible, holiday preparations & work kept me so busy I just forgot for several days, then thought I would like to see what happens without it....like perhaps less night sweats, insomnia and morning car sickness - all of which have improved rapidly.)

The 'brain zaps' thing is really disruptive. It started after approx 4 days. I get a feeling that is kind of like dizziness, but not exactly the same. It is kind of like a sparkler going off in my head for several seconds. It is just slightly unpleasant and averages about one an hour, but sometimes there are a series of 4 or more. But the feeling of light-headedness afterwards is more cause for concern. It can be nerve-wracking when driving.

Does anyone have any idea of a naturopathic way to help balance out my serotonin/dopamine and make these brain zaps go away? o.O
