I can relate. I was on 50mg. of trazodone for sleep for over twenty years. After being hospitalized for stoke-like symptoms, my primary care doctor told me to stop taking it. The tpering schedule she gave my only spanned one week. I feel awful every day and have not slept in over a month. No herbal or otc sleep meds work. Does anyone know how long it takes to get back to normal?

I've been on trazadone for 2yrs. My doctor prescribed it to me for insomnia I started with 50mg & now I am taking 150mg once a day before bed. Had I'd know no what a horrible medicine it is I would have thrown the script in the trash b4 I ever took any! It has me so messed up....!:( I at one time ran out of my script & decided I would just try to go with out it. Huge mistake I didn't sleep for 4 days I was having extreme anixity (which I never had before taking it) I cried for 4 days straight non stop. I was a complete mess!! I went to ER & thats when the doc told me my body was withdrawing from it! I now want to be off this horrible drug.....I know I need to ween myself off any tips on doing this? Please help!!!

I couldn't agree with you more Sick of Traz! I am in my third week of withdrawls, and I am certainly not looking back! Not after what I've been put through going off of it!

Has anybody else experienced weight gain while on Traz? If so, were you able to lose it naturally once of the medication? I look forward to reading others experiences.

I have been taking trazodone nightly for almost three years now for sleep. One of my doctors was weakening me off 100 mg. I had been taking 50 mg for 8 days, and started experiencing extreme night sweats, chills, abdominal cramps, increased insomnia, heart palpitations and food intolerance. I went back on 50 mg last night and I feel so much better. I see my doctor again tomorrow to discuss continuing to be weened off trazodone.

I have been taking 40 mg of the anti depressant citloprram for 20 yrs,I also took clonazapam for 20 yrs from.25 increased to 1 mg.I tried going off the citlopram but after a week thought I was going crazy,so I went back on and am cutting back instead,in the mean time the clonazapam was no longer working and I developed restless leg syndrome.I couldn't sleep more than a couple hrs per night, went to my dr.and he put me on trazadone as well as Apo-Levocarb,a drug use for shaking in Alzheimer's patients.got the first couple nights it worked well, then after week it became less and less effective, does anyone have a natural way to this affliction

25mg is hardly worth taking. I'm surprised it ever did any good. I was on 200 mg., then went down to 100mg and now on 50. I am trying to taper off because of my low, low blood pressure. (which trazadone can cause) I find that it has been very hard to wean off it, so far. I have several symptoms and some depression too. I want off of it once and for all.
