Going through and analyzing some major studies performed in Europe and North America on cognitive and emotional health of the elderly people, scientists have come to some new conclusions.
It appears that factors like high blood pressure, diabetes and exercise habits were not only indicators of heart health but of the brain health as well.

We all know that cognitive skills decrease as we age but this decline can be slowed down by regular exercise, social contact and intellectual discussions.
A consistent link between high blood pressure and poor cognitive functions was found during the analysis.

However, there is still no theory behind these findings and associations. It turns out that what is good for your health is also good for your brain. Exercise is thought to protect brain cells and slow their degeneration.
