Hi. I am 36 years old and recently I have lost my mother. I know that I should have suspected this because she was suffering from cancer, but this hit me really hard.
I was very close with my mother and almost no one could help me to get over this easily.
So, I contacted my doctor and told him about my attentions to start using some antidepressant. He told me that he is ok with this and prescribe me some medication called Lexapro.
He didn’t told me anything about this drug and I'm just wondering is there anything I should know about it before I start with use.
Thanks.

I know few things about this drug because I have used it for a short time when I lost my job few years ago.
Escitalopram oxalate, also known as Lexapro, is one of the best antidepressants on the market.
It is an orally administered selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor.
The efficacy of Lexapro as a treatment for major depressive disorder has been established and it is shown that he can produce his affects after short time of using it.
So, you doctor probably thought that you are not some ”serious case” because with this drug you will get antidepression effect for a short time and probably after that, you will need no drug what so ever.
I wish you luck!
