severe pain during mri scan which has left bruising

I have just had mri scan done on my shoulder. Been suffering long term severe pain and some lack of movement. During scan which lasted approx 1 hour l felt severe pain in shoulder to the extent that nursing staff had to hep me off bed. The shoulder is now very bruised. Can anyone explain why
