Answered by a doctor

On my long run with some guys at work the other day We were talking about races around the state and it was mentioned that down in Tampa they have a 5k?? 15K, and marathon all occuring in one weekend. The more I ran and thought about it the more intriguing the idea of running all 3 in one weekend...

How often in your running do you literally open it up with all you got?

Answered by a doctor

How often in your running do you literally open it up with all you got? Now I'm not talking intervals on the track or striders to loosen up. I'm talking about 100-meter pace, gotta save someone from the oncoming train, up on your toes, sprinting like Carl Lewis running. Do ya?

Favorite race distance...

what's your favorite race distance, why, and do you train specfically for that distance or for a variety of different races? I've only run 4 races since starting last May. Anyway, my favorite so far has been the 10K (still need to do a 1/2 and marathon, though). By the time I did the 10K, I had...

How do i reward myself for all the hard work i put in to running?

Answered by a doctor

ever since I slipped and fell last January, I've had trouble getting back into training. I get in a few runs, then I fall apart. I lift, then I quit doing that. I've made a plan to get back onto track. My goal is now this: workout in some way at least 3x per week for a minimum of 20 minutes...

What is the minimum distance you'll lace up for?

Excluding any injury recovery, what is that shortest distance you'll bother lacing up and getting sweaty for? The shortest distance on my schedule is 6.5 miles, but I'll go as low as 5. I really like the 7-8 mile distance, but time doesn't always allow me to go that far.

evolving as a runner

I am curious: 1) whether you've done multiple half or full marathons, what did you do differently for subsequent ones than the first and why? 2) what additions to your overall training methodology have given you huge returns? the least? 3) what's your favorite part of your training program?...

HRM training, any comments?

Alright, I'm saying this publicly so I can't convince myself to quit. Beginning today, I'm going to try using my Heart Rate Monitor consistently during training. I'm basing my training on Parker's book, "Heart Monitor Training for the Compleat Idiot." (the title was directed at me, after all)...
