I’m worried I have bowel cancer. I have stomach cramps and my bowel movements doubled

Recently I have gone from having 1-3 bowel movements a day to about 5-6, I have stomach cramps and no appetite.. i’m eating near enough nothing. The doctor said either IBS or anxiety but I aren’t convinced. I’m 29 but I’m very concerned that this could be bowel cancer.

How long does it take to being symptom-free after a diverticulitis attack?  Does a special diet have to be followed consisting of a liquid and then a low fiber diet for a number of weeks or a month?
