This is my situation. My periods have always been irregular. About four months ago, I started my period, and it has not stopped since. About one month ago, I was put on birth control pills, specifically ortho tri-cyclen. I started taking the pills solely for the purpose of stopping my period. After the first week of taking the pills, my period stopped. This only lasted for a couple of days however, and then I was right back to bleeding, some days more heavily than others, even when I was taking the pills at the exact same time everyday. I know this isn't normal, and I know the typical advice is 'go to the doctor immediately.'
Problem is, I don't have any insurance. I'm living like, right on the poverty line. I got my birth control pills at a Planned Parenthood, because they help those with low incomes. They didn't seem too concerned with my bleeding, they just gave me the pills and said "oh, hope this helps."
So does anyone have any advice? As far as places I could go or any natural remedies? I tried applying for medicaid but was denied. This is really taking it's toll on my mental health. I can't be intimate with my boyfriend (who I only get to see every few months anyway) and I always just feel insecure and tired of it.
If it matters, I'm a 24 year old female. I know I am overweight, and am curious if it could be related to a thyroid problem (I have many other symptoms like that) or anemia, as I am always very tired and don't sleep well.
I appreciate anyone who took the time to read this or help. I will do anything at this point to feel normal again.
