SO i started Depo in July (5th ) of 2011 and i noticed vaginal discharge; been diagnosed that same year for Bacterial Vaginosis everything went perfectly. When it's time for my shot ( after 3 months passed ) i notice bleeding, but never made it a concern; it would stop right after i was given the shot. SO earlier in the year ( 2012 ) i suffered with abdominal cramps, doctor said it to be an infection ( pelvic ) got diagnose and also received clomatrizole. After being diagnosed i started to notice brown discharge ( ruddy heavy-light, no odor ). It's also been a year since i stopped being sexual. Is it okay to be on birth control ( Depo ) even if discontinued sexual activity? Could the infection be the cause of the Brown discharge?

Upon doing my research. I have discovered that the MANY women who experience BV and recurrent BV have used a form of birth control even after discontinuation. I didn't have BV until using Depo Provera injection which caused "breakthrough bleeding". This "breakthrough bleeding" came with a horrible smell.

I went back to my doctor who did not tell me what it was but said he knew what I was talking about and he switched me to another birth control. I later discovered what this smell was called. BV has been a ****** nasty nuisance and experience ever since.

No clinician can tell me that birth control does not cause BV. Yes, BV is caused by a PH imbalance and this is caused by birth control which alters a woman's hormone levels which also disrupts her normal PH balance.

I tried for two years to get pregnant after discontinuing birth control and having my child 2 years before. It didn't happen until 5 years later.

It is more to birth control that the creators want women and clinicians to know or tell. I will never use hormonal contraception ever again.

I've been diagnosed with BV 3 times in the 5.5 years I've been on the needle however I've never had any symptoms of it! I'm glad I read this because it could be a reason for this! As for you not being able to get pregnant I stopped my needle for less then a year because my boyfriend and I were taking a break before I got my needle I ended up getting pregnant! So it can happen because I was on the needle for 4 years at that point and then off it for less then a year! Evrryone is different I guess! But it is known to be much harder to conceive if you've been on BC for a long period of time!
