i reaceved a steroid shot in my neck, 1 week later I had the worst migranes in my life, for about7 -8 days I landed in emergancy room 3 times, votomting- could'nt control my bladde and intense pain in the head, they gave me some meds, but, I couldn't drive or go to work-- they would spike and lower.. this was all due to a shoulder injury I had from my job and this is what work well told me to do, The stroide shot did'nt do anything for my shoulder, except give me a week or so long migranie, the pain clinic said that the striode side of fects would'nt cause a Migraine side affect, even my own MD said the same thing, so here I am wondering why and them telling me
I'm crazy but I haven't had a migraine since??? Hummm

I had a cortisone shot in my hand for trigger finger yesterday around noon and woke up today with a bad headache which got worse throughout the day. Hoping to wake up with it gone tomorrow...I never get headaches but this one is awful! I also feel really flushed and hot even though it's only 25 degrees outside and I'm energetic but had zero appetite all day. This did NOT happen the last time I got a cortisone shot.

I too suffer from headaches after trigger point injections. I have had them in my lumbar, and the sciatic joint, both my wrists and one for a trigger finger. But after the injections I also get really flushed and my face looks like I have been out in the sun but I can actually feel it and it is horrible. Like you might feel with the flu or something. I asked 3 different doctors and none of the had heard of that reaction.

Kelly, Read my post below if you come hear. I have the same exact thing happen. I asked 3 doctors what could cause it and they said that is not one of the side effects. I have had these shots or injections into my spine and sciatic joint. I think he one test I had once was a myleogram and the same thing happened. It is a side effect or maybe an adverse reaction. but the doctors I asked said they had not hear that one before.

I had a prednisone shot ten days ago, to counteract a severe reaction to tramadol...For the first week, I felt depressed, panic attacks, crying, almost suicidal . When that went away, the sweats and chills came on with an ever present headache. This is now the fifth day of a headache..I just can't do anything. What has helped a little is an icepack on my head and neck..then a hot shower..especially on my neck muscles which feel so tight. I have tried tylenol, aleve, xanax, flexeril, pain cream rubbed into my neck, and Excedrin. I'd say the Excedrin works as well as anything..but this is getting very old...I will NEVER get another shot.! Two weeks of my life have been stolen (so far) and I have been in abject misery..

I am so relieved I found these posts re: cortisone injections!  I had a lumbar injection at a pain mgmt center 11 days ago and my horrible, never-ending headach started about a week later, and refuses to go away!  I am a migraine sufferer as well, and as others have said, no medication seems to touch this headache!  It feels like it's right behind my eyes and in the center of my brain, and is so debilitating there's nothing you can do about it!  since it started a week after my injections (two on either side of my spine) I didn't put two and two together until yesterday about it possibly being related to the injections.  I will NEVER have them again because, besides the horrible headache, I am still having my back pain from before, but it's actually even worse!!
