Yes, cortisone shots can give you headaches!  I'm always so gladto get my knees injected for the relief it gives me, but I forget about the resulting headache.  I took mega-acetominophen, then a cold pack, now a hot pack and just gave up and got up!  My headaches don't last too long, but they are mighty uncomfortable in the meantime.  I try to keep in mind that the headache doesn't last long, but the knee relief does.

I've had them before and never noticed this side effect but got one in both wrists yesterday and had a headache last night ( thought it was stress) but woke up with it this morning. I think it will go away and feel much better in a day or so. Hope so!

I've had many cortisone shots with no reactions.  Yesterday, I had one shot for a trigger finger, and within four hours had flushing and a frontal headache that has not gone away.  Now, I'm getting a tinge of nasuea, too. I know that cortisone nose drops give me nausea.  These must be related.  On the plus side, my overall arthritis feels much better than usual.. Win some, lose some.

I also had a knee injection yesterday. My headache came when I went to bed last night. It was quite severe. Got up at 6 AM because I couldn't sleep. At 10 AM, I laid down for a nap, and the headache returned. But my knee is feeling fine. Sounds like I have to put up with this for a couple of days. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I had a cortisone injection this am. I have had a slight headache all day. I've had the injections in neck and back. Can't remember any headache. Headed for the tylenol or something stronger. Wine made it worse.

6 hours after receiving a knee injection of cortisone, I developed a severe headache, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and elevated heart rate. I went to the emergency room where they treated me with IV doses of anti-nausea medication, benadryl, and ibuprofen. After sleeping for about five hours when I got home, I feel much better. I reacted to prednizone in a similar way last June. I will never take corticosteroids voluntarily again. Apparently, these kinds of reactions are not common, but they obviously occur in some people.

I had my first cortisone shot in both knees 24 hours ago . My blood sugar has shot up to 200 it's usually 120 at the highest . BP 170/100 with a raging headache .However  I have had some relie from the knee pains and a nurse told me that these. Side effects should abate within 72 hours . Since its a holiday weekend it's difficult to talk to a physical .

So do I and nothing seems to help the headache pain. I just want to know the medical cause of the pain.
