I had a cortisone shot in my knee yesterday too. Headache began about 8 hours after the shot and stayed severe until this evening when it started to subside. It is not gone, however and my nasal area feels swelled, stuffy, face red and flushing. Stomachache has not lessened. Since my headache is a bit better, I'm hoping for it to go away by tomorrow, which will add up to about 48 hours of severe discomfort.

I had a cortisone shot in my shoulder at 10a.m. on Tuesday. By noon my head started to hurt. By 5 pm the pain was so bad I had to go to bed. I had the nausea associated with a migraine. I used ice packs on my head but couldn't get any relief. By 10p.m. I was in the ER getting IV pain medication. They sent me home around 3a.m. I still had pain level at a 5. The pain level hasn't gone below a 4 since. It is now Thursday morning and I still am at a level 4 with the use of an ice pack. I have a Primary care Dr. appt Friday afternoon. when I called my orthopedic Dr They tried to tell me it must be a coincidence. After reading all of posts of other people I know it was the shot.

I had an injection in my knee late yesterday afternoon and awoke with a small headache this morning which has now grown into large, throbbing headache. Not fun.
Sure hope it does not last for days like some of the earlier posters. Ugh.

I just got an injection on my left shoulder today July 6 2015 and when I left the office I started getting a headache had one months ago actually in April of this year for my sciatica and didn't get a headache so we'll see if the headache goes away tomorrow or in 2 to 3 days I hope so I hate headaches tried to take some excedrin didn't go away try putting my feet in warm water and ice pack on the back of my head that alleviated so we'll see if the headache goes away and if the pain goes away in 2 weeks when I go see my doctor if they would have told me this not sure if we would have took in the injection was told that my arm I feel a little sore for a day or two I'm not told about the headaches we will see what happens

Found this on another site and thought I'd share it here. Unfortunately there can be complications. The most common complications is a headache. This can be very severe but is typically totally relieved by lying down. The incidence of a headache can be minimized by resting quietly for 24 hours, primarily lying down. Drinking plenty of fluids also seems to minimize the problem. Avoid caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours after the injection! Occasionally the headache is persistent for more than 2 or 3 days. If this persists contact the office.

I had both knees injected with Cortisone 4 days ago. My blood pressure went up about 6 hours after and I had headache and insomnia the first night and a foggy mind all the next day, along with shakiness. Then, the headache set in with a vengeance and the nausea that accompanies a migraine. This is second time I've had this reaction.Last time the headache and elevated BP lasted a month. I waited over one and one-half years to get recent shot becase of the last reaction but Docs thought last time a fluke so we gave it another try. Knees are much better but headache is awful. Hope it ends soon.
